Why do I need paint correction for my car?

Before we apply our ceramic coatings, it’s important to ensure your paintwork is in the best possible condition, as this is the finish which will be protected underneath the coating.

Abrasions, light scratches and imperfections in the paintwork dull the true colour, depth and clarity of your car. Once these are removed you will be surprised to see just how different your car looks with its extra glossy reflective panels.

Paint Texture – Reflections

Poor texture, known as ‘orange peel’ describes the peaks and troughs in the surface of the paintwork (like the skin of an orange). By machine polishing, we can lower the peaks to give a flatter, mirror like reflection.

Remove swirls & scratches

Swirl marks and scratches are an eye sore on your car and can ruin the finish of your paintwork. As they build up, these marks begin to grey and fade the colour of your car, thankfully, we can remove them for you.

What is paint correction?

Paint Correction is the art of slowly taking back the top layer of clear coat to remove imperfections on the surface of the painted panel. We perform this using our Dual Action (DA) machine polishers which, when combined with the correct combination of pad and polish, act as an abrasive to slowly cut away at the damaged top layer of clear coat.

We use a paint depth gauge which tells us the amount of total paint (primer, colour and clear) that is left on each section of the panel, this helps to guide us on which areas can continue to be polished and which areas should be left to avoid compromising the clear coat.

The differing levels of paint correction we offer directly reflect the amount of polishing stages, and therefore time spent on each car. The more imperfections present in the car, the more polishing stages are required to bring the cars paintwork back to glossy perfection.

Once this top layer is taken back and all the imperfections are flattened out, we then apply a ceramic coating to seal in this finish.

What are the types of paint correction?

New Car/ Single Stage Enhancement

If your car is new, or in great condition, then this is the option for you. The machine polish will remove the light scratches, swirl marks and imperfections in your paintwork that may have occurred during the delivery process or first few washes.

Two-Stage Enhancement

A step up from the single stage, to help tackle those deeper marks on paintwork that need an extra stage of polishing. This is an initial cutting pass, to tackle the defects, followed by a refining stage to make the paint pop.

Multi-Stage Paint Correction

Pushing for perfection where safely possible, by completing as many machine polishing passes as required to achieve a flawless finish. Ideal for those looking for the very best paintwork achievable, all sealed in with a ceramic coating, as included with all our details.

A well maintained car will continue to look great for many years with the help of the ceramic coating. Some colours and paints are ‘softer’ which may accumulate swirl marks and light scratches easier than ‘harder’ paints, but it all comes down to the quality regular maintenance with the correct products used.
